Is blue zircon a "diamond stimulant"?
I'm looking at electric blue 'diamond' zircon to embed the top of the platinum band. Is blue zircon a valuable gem worth at least fifty dollars minimum and does it last about as long as the actual cut diamond, even when subject to the varying climate?
Yes, any gem replacing a diamond and pretending to look like one is a diamond simulant.
Zircon is strongly doubly refractive, you will see double images of facets on the opposite side. More important, it chips and sratches very easily as it has a low hardness. These days they are not much used any more as diamond simulant, as Synthetic Cubic Zirconia is plenty available on the market and has a better durability, just like Synthetic Moissanite. CZ is lower in cost, so that may be your best choice.
What Are Blue Sapphires
