What kind of drill/drill bit do I need?

So, I make jewelry and have made jewelry for a long time as hobby. I've started to get into making charms, earrings and rings, from silverware.
However, my pieces tend to be a little flashy/gaudy/ornate (lol) and I like to add beads. This requires, for my purposes, that I make holes in the silver (or steel, depending on what kind of flatware it is.) Obviously I know to chose one that is small to make small holes, but does it matter what type of drill it is? Is there a particular type that may do the best job?
