Is The Klingon Imperial Empire larger then The Cardassian Union?
Also is The Romulan Star Empire located in the beta quadrant ? A recent review of major alpha quadrant powers shows Klingon territory significantly larger then that of the Romulans and rivaling The United Federation. I also noticed several smaller yellow areas which could indicate Dominion protectorates , But I thought the Dominion was driven out of the alpha quadrant? The Delta quadrant showed nearly that entire region as Borg domain however I was unable to locate either the Krennim or Devore Imperiums . The Krennim should show up in any political map since at last count The Imperium held some 852 odd worlds under its sway.
One question at a time man. First off, your map appears to be out of date, since Capt. Janeway wiped out the Borg. Anyways, check the website, it'll have more info than I do.
Guilin Travel Sites - Guilin Imperial Palace
In recent times I took an excursion to Guilin's Imperial Palace. Situated in the city center, the palace is now home to the art departments of Guilin's Guangxi Normal University. I love the palace and in the past four years I had been there several timesand it is an attractive place. Although lacking in the brilliance of Beijing's Forbidden City, Guilin's Prince's Palace is still a lot of enjoyment to have a look. I like to go there early in the morning when the aged can be seen there dancing, chatting, or playing Taichi, while students practicing their traditional musical instruments outside in pavilions or under very old trees, which is really a quiet place.
To enter the palace, first I had to go through the main entry of the palace's defending wall. Now there is just only one keep opening, but initially there were three. Two of them have been blocked up, guarding either side of the doorway are two stone dogs. Similar to the stone lions found at most imperial palaces, the stone dogs became trendier in the later period of the Qing Dynasty.
After entering the wall's main entrance, I walked directly to the palace compounding main gate. It is very gorgeous and in light yellow. The ones able to be seen now were built on the original's basis during the 1940's. Although different from the originals, they looks pretty cool and are all yellow with tiled roofs.
After going through the main gate I saw a large courtyard with a building in the center of ancient stone handrails. The palace is divided in the middle by a pathway. It was called the Prince's pathway. Only the Prince was allowed to use this path. But now every one can walk on it. After crossing the courtyard I came to the stone handrail. It looks like the ones seen in the Forbidden City, but with some differences. First, it is not as big as the ones in the Forbidden City. Secondly, a dragon can not to be seen. The dragon was the sign of the emperor, and only he was permissible to use it. Since the Prince, was subsequent to the emperor, he was allowed to use the clouds that the dragon flew through as his symbol, so the handrails have cloud decorations all over it. The handrails have three main stairways. The center one, covered with cloud carvings, is reserved for the prince. The right stairway was kept for administration officials and the left for military officers. There are other stairways on the sides for the one of less importance. Located in the center of the handrails is a large yellow building. Firstly it was the building where the prince managed official business, and honoring of the best scholars who passed the provincial level imperial exams. In imperial China taking a sequence of exams was the only way to become an official. First was local, second provincial, then the imperial exams held in Beijing. The provincial level exams were held in the palace, and there have been some of the examination closets built on the grounds to show visitors what it was like.
In the interior of the building is the palace museum. There are many artifacts related to the palace, and Guilin's history in the museum. There is a scale model showing what the palace would be looked like during the Qing Dynasty. It is really trim to compare the scale model with what exists now. There is also a performance of Guilin's traditional operas, in which the actors wear large wooden masks.
At the rear the first main building, there is a well situated under a tree. It is said to be a lucky well, and all of the students taking the exams would drink the water from it before start. There are a few very old trees in the area. They are Baiyang trees and the roots that drop down from the branches in strange shapes. After the well, there is another big courtyard and another big yellow building. The building would used to be the living quarters of the prince, but now it is the theatre of the university. I have seen many nice performances in this theatre.
There is a mountain behind the second large building, called Solitary Beauty peak. There are a couple of caves in it. The big cave has many carvings carved in the walls, some of which with different divinities that are believed to protect people born under their year. My god was a warrior decked in body armor, and looks very angry. After going out of the cave, the guide and I climbed to the top of the peak. The sights of Guilin were astonishing. From that vantage spot, I could see all of the mountains sprinkled throughout the city. This city must have been extremely amazing when all of the houses were small.
Behind the mountain is a semi-circular shaped pond. In the center of the pond is an island with little bridges leading to. There are two pergolas located next to the pond. One is on the island, and one is on the shore, both pretty nice places to sit and relax. Some students were playing musical instruments, which added a really brilliant atmosphere to the quietness of the place.
After relaxing for a while I wandered around the palace. There is an presentation center for students to display their paintings; I found them really outstanding. There are also a couple of stores selling snacks, tea, and some artworks. It is awfully a quiet place and really nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of Guilin City cneter. I go there frequently, and will go on to do so.
