is there a such thing as a freshwater nerite snail?
ive had this miniture frog aquarium for african dwarf frogs (dont worry ill be upgrading in awhile) anyway i think i have nerite snails the tablet book says theres either a nerites from florida, ramshorn, and pond snails and mine is really little a lil bit smaller than a dime maybe the size as the dime and its round has never reprodused (i have two and they still havnt) and are round and smooth are there such things as freshwater nerite snails i thought they were saltwater snail so what kind are mine out of those three (nerite, ramshorn, or a pond snail???) oh and how big do they get??

Yes. Nerite snails can live in freshwater, but they can not breed in fresh water. They must be in brackish (slightly salty water like at the mouth of a river emptying into the sea) or salt water. There are numerous freshwater Nerites, but only one of them is common in the aquarium trade. The Olive Nerite, often referred to as Neritina reclivata (Say, 1822) but correctly,Vittina usnea (Röding, 1798) is a brackish water snail from Florida, the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico sometimes called by the common name "Black marble snail." It has a thick, relatively heavy shell that is dark green with numerous, narrow black stripes. They are occasionally available in pet shops or through online vendors.
