Rhinestone Mylar

How does Hotfix work and how do you create designs on the mylar paper?

I want to Hotfix rhinestones to a shirt but I've never done it before. How exactly does it work? Is there glue already on the rhinestones and how exactly do I get my design on the paper? Does the paper peel off when I'm done or how does it work? Does the paper get stuck under the rhinestone?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean about getting the design on the paper. Hotfix crystals are applied with either an iron or a heat-setting tool with interchangeable tips. If you're referring to the crystal designs that are already laid out on a piece of paper, they will have directions on the package (and a slip of clear plastic for a pressing surface I think) so follow the package directions. If you're using loose crystals, place them on the fabric where you want them, glue side down and apply the heat set tool with the correct tip until they are set.

The general idea is that the crystals have a very strong layer of heat activated glue on the back. The crystals are placed glue side down on the fabric and the glue is melted by heating the face of the crystal. Once the crystal and glue cool, the glue adheres the crystal to the fabric.
