what is the maximum number of cubes that can be made at one time?
A child's toy consists of interlocking pieces of 1 cm thick foam. Each piece is 15 cm square. There is 1 piece for each letter of the alphabet and each number from 0-9. the pieces can be joined to form cubes and prisms.

I am assuming that the pieces can be connected in three dimensions, not just flat in a row. You have 36 pieces.
If you join 6 pieces to make a single cube, you can make five more. You can make 6 cubes with the 36 pieces.
