The Beauty and Power of the Zebra

At first glance the zebra appears to be nothing more than a striped horse, but in fact the two are quite different. Zebras are truly unique animals, and they are one of the biggest draws at any zoo or wild animal park.

As one would expect, the zebra is a member of the horse family, and this unique and fascinating animal is native to central and southern parts of the African continent. All zebras have the easily identifiable black and white vertical stripes, but no two zebras will have the same stripe pattern.

The purpose of the zebra stripes has always been hotly contested, and it continues to be a bone of contention even today. At first, most scientists assumed that the stripe patterns of the zebra were used as camoflauge to hide the zebra from lions and other predators. Other zoologists believed that the stripe patterns were used by the zebras in social life and to distinguish between individual zebras. One of the most recent theories, and one that has been backed up by research, holds that the zebra uses its distinctive stripes as a sort of disruptive coloration to confuse the dangerous tsetse fly.

No matter what the purpose of the stripes, the zebra has been one of the most successful animals at surviving in a hostile world. The zebra can travel at a top speed of 55 kilometers per hour. This top speed is slower than that of the horse, but the zebra makes up for its lack of speed with greater stamina. During a single day a zebra can travel up to 40 kilometers from the herd and be back again in time for dark.

There are actually three species of zebra. The Plains Zebra is the most common type of zebra and it is well distributed throughout southern and eastern Africa. The Mountain Zebra is native to southwest Africa, and it has a sleeker coat than the other varieties. In addition, the Mountain Zebra has a white belly and narrower stripes than does the Plains Zebra. Lastly, the largest zebra is the Gravy's Zebra. This zebra is distinguished by its upright mane and its long, narrow head. The Gravy's Zebra is similar in appearance to the mule, and it is native to the grasslands of Somalia, Ethiopia and northern parts of Kenya.

i turned my laptop on this morning, after about 5 minutes, the screen went an opaque yellow then white?

it slowly faded to a grey/black colour. i cant get anything on it at all. is it totally gone or repairable? it's a hp pavillion entertainment laptop about 18 months old.

Try the re-install disc and reboot the computer. If you don't get any type of characters at all on the screen, then the motherboard is dead (in my opinion).

If it's not dead, go into the BIOS and see if it detects the HDD. If it doesn't detect the HDD then the HDD is dead.

But like I said before--in my opinion--if you get "nothing" at all. the motherboard is fried.

How to Make Clay Pot Crafts?

You can easily decorate clay pots available in your home so that they really look attractive when noticed and involve your artistic skills too.
If you have an artistic mind and you love you make something decorative and attractive for your home then clay pots are definitely a great idea to work with. You can make different items or can also so some painting on the clay pot in such a way that it will make the plant look better. It may also happen that you not even notice the plant just because the pot is so attractive. For more details visit to www.positive-idea.com
To make a painted clay pot you need to have 4" clay pot, opaque apple green acrylic paint, opaque blue lagoon acrylic paint, opaque yellow acrylic paint, semi opaque pumpkin acrylic paint, semi opaque white acrylic paint, fine point permanent black marker.

Steps to make a painted clay pot:

1. First using a small ruler and pencil, you should measure the height of the clay pot starting just below the rim. Then mark off the halfway point between the top and the bottom of the clay pot. Altogether you should measure and mark off the halfway point at four opposite places on the pot.

2. Now holding the plastic measuring tape up to the clay pot, connect the halfway points and then draw a light pencil line between all the halfway point marks around the pot.

3. Line up the ruler with each of the halfway points around the pot one at a time and draw a light pencil line from the top of the plant pot just below the rim to the bottom of the pot at this point. You will have 8 squares drawn on the pot.

4. Then you have to decide on the color scheme or arrangement of the colors into squares you have drawn on the pot. In one set of squares you can fill any combination of two colors and in the other one also you can fill other set of colors.

5. Squeeze a small amount of the pumpkin acrylic paint on the paper plate and gather a small amount of paint on the straight edge of the brush and paint along the straight lines of one of the squares with a generous coat paint on the paper plate. Outline and fill in one of the square completely with a generous layer of paint. Now paint the square diagonally across from it pumpkin using the same method as you did for the first one and let the paint dry. Rinse out and shape the brush again.

6. When this paint is drying, you can turn the pot around to other set of 4 squares. Squeeze a small amount of yellow acrylic paint on the paper plate. Paint the square diagonally across from it yellow suing the same method as you have did for the first one and then let the paint dry.

7. When the paint on this side is drying, turn the pot around to the first set of 4 squares. Squeeze a small amount of apple green acrylic paint and paint the square diagonally across from it green using the same method as you did earlier. Again let the paint dry and you can rinse out and shape the brush again.

8. Again while this paint is drying turn the pot around to the second set of 4 squares and squeeze a small amount of blue lagoon acrylic paint on the paper plate. Next outline and fill in one of the squares with a generous coat of blue paint. Paint the square diagonally using the same method and let the paint dry.

9. When the paint is drying for the last squares you have painted, it is time to paint the edge of the pot white. Squeeze a small amount of white acrylic paint onto the paper plate and paint the edges.

Are black beads on mangalsutra unique. Are they naturally found or made? Do they have a scientific name or are just beads colored in black.

How do i get out black semi permanent hair dye completly out of my hair?

i dyed my hair with midnight black semi permanent hair dye last october (a year ago!) and it still hasn't completed faded out. it isn't too noticiable but basically the bottom half of my hair is a few shades darker than the top which is now my natural brown. I have long hair and don't want to cut the darker half off....help!

Head to the salon if you don't want to regret it! Black and red dyes are the hardest to fix alone. Go to a salon that specializes in color and they can help you fix the color without damaging your hair so much you end up having to cut it anyway!
