New York City has everything that the world has to offer, so there's got to be someone selling a real black rose here. Please kindly help me find one. I would really appreciate your help.

The Color Meanings Of Roses

Red roses: Have traditionally signified true love, passion, beauty, and courage. They can also suggest respect and congratulations. A single red rose is a universal symbol of love and is an accepted way of saying "I love you." A thorn less red rose is meant to express love at first sight.

White roses: have traditionally meant innocence, secrecy or quiet, sacredness, youth. They can also be used to say, "I miss you." They are often carried by brides to connote a happy and pure love. White rosebuds are thought to symbolize young girlhood.

Pink roses: have traditionally been given to communicate thanks, happiness, admiration, honesty, and grace. Pale pink roses are sometimes given to express sympathy. The pale type of roses can also signify sweetness. Dark pink roses are traditionally given as thanks.

Blue roses: were traditionally created by dyeing white roses. Because roses lack a gene to produce delphinidin, the primary plant pigment that produces true blue flowers. Delphinidin gives blue hues to flowers like violas and delphiniums. It also gives the blue-red color of the grape that produces Cabernet Sauvignon, and can be found in cranberries and Concord grapes. "Blue roses" have been bred by conventional hybridization methods, but the results, such as "Blue Moon" are more accurately described as lilac in color. However, after thirteen years of joint research by an Australian company Florigene, and Japanese company Suntory, a blue rose was created in 2004 using genetic engineering. Blue roses traditionally signify mystery or attaining the impossible. They are believed to be able to grant the owner youth or grant wishes. This symbolism derives from the rose's meaning in the language of flowers common in Victorian times.

Snap, Crackle, Pop…arthritis Pain and Homeopathy

Stiff elbows, creaky wrists, crackly knees… suffering from arthritis swelling and pain is not the way we planned to spend our middle and later years. And as if the pain, swelling and restriction isn’t enough, the side effects from the drugs can cause entirely new symptoms and diseases. Just reading the small print of arthritis drugs is enough to give one a case of anxiety disorder.

Yet, there is an alternative of grand proportions….homeopathy. Homeopathy is the gentle medicine that has offered relief from joint pain and slowed the progression of this disheartening disease for the last one hundred years or so. If properly utilized, homeopathy can address the inflammation, pains, sleeplessness, lethargy and despair. It can even eliminate future problems and bring joints to their normal state if caught early enough.

Take Carolynn for an example. Carolyn is a knitting enthusiast. As a young girl, her mother taught her to knit everything from scarves to ponchos and ever since that time, mother and daughter have enjoyed their hobby together. When Carolyn’s right thumb began swelling with pain last fall, she commenced taking analgesics a few times a week. Soon she discovered that it wasn’t enough when she had a knitting project at hand, so she doubled the dose and began taking this amount daily, especially when the weather was damp. Within three months she experienced abdominal pain and blood in her stool. When she mentioned this to her doctor, the first thing he asked her was if she was taking aspirin or the like. After leaving the doctor’s office with three new prescriptions, one for the abdominal bleeding, one for inflammation and another for joint pain, it was clear to Carolynn at that moment that she needed to find an alternative method for the mess she was in. On the way home, with swollen hands and a sharp pain in her abdomen, she recalled that only last week her neighbor mentioned that a homeopath had cured her husband of tendonitis. “Hmm”, she considered, “I wonder if an inflammation of joints is treatable with homeopathy?”

Carolynn met with a homeopath a week later and after taking the remedy for only three days, she felt measurably improved. The blood in her stool and abdominal pain were gone in about ten days and her thumb was no longer painful within the first week. Even the swelling was reduced. More unexpected was her hip that had also been bothering her nightly in bed for years, was no longer sore and achy. She was so accustomed to it that she never even thought to mention this to the homeopath. And now it was distinctly missing. This, in turn, restored her sleep to the way it was when she was younger. The most astounding relief came from her feet. She had always suffered from pain and other sensations in her heels anytime she walked too far. Yet now this pain, too, was nearly gone.

It was difficult to imagine that the little pills she took that had no side effects, were non-addictive and cost under $20, could make such a difference in her well being. Her knitting was not only done without pain, but she found that the dexterity she had lost years ago, also returned.

The homeopath informed her that she should take Rhus tox once every two weeks. After the second appointment, no follow up appointment was scheduled because she was no longer in pain. Wow! No pain and no meds! Carolynn was so delighted, she scheduled an appointment for her mother, Maddie, who also suffers from arthritis.

Maddie, in her eighties, has had arthritis ever since she was in an automobile accident nearly twenty years ago. She has taken steroids for the last three years, however, she recently read on line that steroids can cause bone loss. There was no coincidence, she thought, that she had recently broken her hip from a minor injury. It indeed seemed too extreme a break from such a minor fall. And it was the x-ray technician who made the correlation between the drug and the onset of her osteoarthritis. Why hadn’t she been warned by her doctor? She wouldn’t have taken the steroids had she known the consequences. Now she was hopeful that her daughter’s homeopath could offer another way.

Her visit to the homeopath was not unlike Carolynn’s. She learned that homeopathy has no side effects, is gentle and could be used in tandem with her anti-inflammatory medication. The best part was that she could soon reduce the medication s as her joint pain improved. And that’s just what happened. The homeopath prescribed Arnica montana for Maddie, for the residual pain in her hip from the fracture. She had to admit the pain was lessened and the shaky feeling that had become a part of her daily life since the break, was also resolved. Two months later, Maddie was given another remedy, Sanguinaria for the chronic joint inflammation and pain in her neck. It was like a miracle! It took a few weeks, but soon Maddie was free of pain altogether! She told her friends and neighbors; anyone who would listen. From time to time, Maddie returns to her homeopath for what she calls a “tune up”. Each visit is an opportunity to get another health issue resolved. Soon her sleep was restored, too. What used to be a nightly struggle, became deep uninterrupted sleep followed by a desire to spring into action upon arising. Life simply got easier without the little aches, pains and disturbances.

Now Carolynn and Maddie go for long walks, often to the local knitting shop to get inspired for the next project. Then they walk home - the long way. They swing their arms with comfort and ease, each with a satisfied grin as they head home to wield their needles for their new knitting venture and a life worth living.

Thai Silk – rich in quality, beauty and lustre

Around 5 millenniums ago, Chinese Empress Si Ling-Chi discovered silk by a fluke. Si Ling-Chi developed the sericulture, the science of silk production, and also introduced silk garments to the world. Thousands of years later it was spread across the world, including Thailand. Thai silk industry dates back to some 3000 years, according to the archaeological discoveries. Whereas the oldest evidence for Thai silk is reported from Baan Chiang, a heritage site in Udon Thani Province.

Towards the northeast of Thailand is the Khorat Plateau, popular for being the country’s hub of silk industry. From raising the silkworms called Bombyx mori, to weaving graceful silk fabrics, Khorat Plateau oversees the silk production and also supplies rose silk since many years. At present, Thai silk is acclaimed as the finest fabric in the world.

Bombyx mori silkworm is hatched from the silk moth’s eggs and they feed on mulberry leaves. After feasting on the leaves the silkworm spin a fluffy cocoon using their spittle. The colours of the cocoon vary from pastel green to light gold, while the total length of its fibrils spans from 500 to 1500 yards. It is soaked in boiling water to separate the fibrils.

It takes several fibrils to produce one fine silk thread strong enough for weaving. Some use machines while a majority use hand-reeling to produce these raw silk thread. Its natural yellowish colour is removed by immersing the skeins in hydrogen peroxide. Before the weaving process, the raw silk is again soaked in hot water and dyed in vibrant colours. Weaving is done using traditional handloom methods, after washing and drying the silk yarn.

Unlike other types of silk, Thai silk have special attributes that defines its prominence. The special lustre of Thai silk comes from its triangular shaped fibres, reflecting an iridescent similar to a prism. The sheen and lustre of the silk also changes alluringly according to the angle and the reflection of light. To authenticate the quality of Thai silk, the fabrics are also given a special peacock emblem. The peacock emblem has a range of colours such as gold, silver, blue and green symbolizing its production method, quality and authenticity.

HELP! how to fix/get rid of this hair?!?!?!?

Okay so past YEARS! all i been doing is running my hands through my hair and i come across these strands of hair that like small curly(i have Natural straight hair). i keep pulling these hair out but they seem to not go away! i hate hate hate it!!! i tryed everything from pantene moisture renewel to aussie 3 min deeeeep merical.

if that is your head hair...you may need a salon shampoo (salon shampoos are stronger and better for your hair...but are more expensive). I recommend the Redken Smooth Down line for your hair as of now. It should get your hair smoother. use their shampoo and conditioner. if you cant afford the shampoo and conditioner...at least get Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat.

Pearls and Pearl Jewelry – Quality Aa+ or Aaa

There are many types of pearls depending upon oysters family type and are named as follows:

Freshwater pearls, Akoya Seawater pearls, Tahitian Pearls and South Sea Pearls.

All these types are cultured pearls and natural pearls are rarity. Freshwater pearls that are harvested in freshwater lakes, ponds and rivers are the cheapest of all and abundantly available. They are very much affordable. Next comes the Akoya Seawater pearls and the name akoya means saltwater in Japanese language. The culturing technique was originally developed by famous Japanese man name Mikimoto in early part of 19th Century. But now China has taken over the pearl farming of both akoya and freshwater pearls to a much larger scale.

Most of us perhaps have no real idea as to how pearls are graded and valued when it comes to quality and pricing. Unlike diamonds that are evaluated based on four C’s: Cut, Carat, Color and Clarity, pearls being natural gems are grown naturally in oyster’s womb. They grow in many shapes and sizes and we human have little or no control. More so, the water quality and climatic conditions often play a major role during pearl farming.

Since pearls come in all different sizes, shapes and colors, they are graded from A to AAA depending upon quality. Luster is the king as no one would like to buy dull looking pearls no matter how cheap they are. Often many jewelers sell them as AAAA and that’s just the hype perhaps to get more money.

There are SIX factors that determine the value of pearls or pearl jewelry:

Pearl luster: Combination of surface brilliance and inner glow. A very good luster means higher pearl value.

Pearl Luster, Pearl Surface, Pearl Size, Pearl Colorand Pearl Shape.

Pearl Nacre: The iridescent internal layer of a mollusk shell. It is a natural substance oyster secretes to protect its sensitive flesh. The thin nacre is very prone to peeling and chipping whereas thicker layer commands more value because of its greater luster depth.

Pearl Surface: If outer surface is very clean and have very few blemishes such pearls carry more value. Higher quality of pearls have mirror like finish and without any blemishes on the surface.

Pearl Size: Pearls are commonly measured in millimeters (mm) in their diameter. Large size pearls carry higher prices. Even 1 mm makes the difference. The average most sold pearls today are between 6.5mm and 7.5mm and are preferred choice of many young women. Depending upon age, taste, status and styles many go for higher sizes as well.

Pearl Color: Surface color or body color. Most irradiated or dyed pearls have surface colors. The natural pearl colors are white, black, champagne, green, gray, aqua and gold. Again within each category there are common overtones. White with rose overtones look great on fair skin and the cream or the golden overtones look fabulous on darker complexions. Most important is woman's own personal taste and preference.

Pearl Shape: The perfect round shape always have higher pearl values but near round or off round are very much common, great in demand and sold everyday.
